Recently it was discovered that U.S. execs weren’t too excited about the Honda CR-Z, which almost derailed its sale here. But if current sales in Japan are any indication of how it will perform when it arrives in the U.S., Honda execs are probably sorry they ever doubted it.
As of today, Honda reported that they have already received 10,000 orders for the CR-Z hybrid sports car – which is more than 10 times its monthly sales target and quickly approaching the annual sales target of 12,000 units.
Going on sale at dealers less than a month ago, the CR-Z is off to an incredible start in the automaker’s home market. Honda expects to sell about 50,000 units worldwide.
Look for the Honda CR-Z to reach U.S. showrooms this summer. Pricing has yet to be announced, but Honda dealerships in Virginia expect the CR-Z to have a base price in the mid-$20,000 range.
