From cars, to lawnmowers, and even robots, Honda is a company that’s dedicated to innovation well beyond the automotive industry. Proof of that is one of its latest creations – the U3-X micro unicycle.
Designed specifically for people that have difficultly walking due to injury, illness or have other physical limitations, the Honda U3-X allows users to sit completely upright and it can move in effortlessness in any direction. The most innovative feature of the U3-X is its wheels-within-wheels system that facilitates 360 degrees of motion.
In terms of personal mobility, it’s comparable to a Segway, but the Honda U3-X is far more compact and weighs just 22 pounds. Unfortunately, this little tricycle may not be quite ready for prime time just yet as Honda hasn’t specified a release date. [via CrunchGear]
Honda is no stranger to innovation, so it comes to no surprise of Bremerton used cars and trucks to see automaker venturing into yet another niche. While Infiniti Hanover questions whether such technology could find its way into production automobiles, there is certainly plenty of uses for such a clever people-mover.
