The Environmental Protection Agency just released its list of the Top 10 EPA-Rated Fuel Sippers since 1984, and it’s no surprise to us that Honda came out on top.
At #1 on the list was the first generation Honda Insight. At one time, the odd looking three-door Insight was even more popular than the current best-selling Toyota Prius, which of course came in at #2 on the EPA’s list.
Washington DC Honda Dealers said that Honda holds five of spots on the list. Aside from the 1999-2006 Insight, the list included the 1986-1987 Civic Coupe HF, 1994-1995 Civic HB VX, 2006-2010 Civic Hybrid, and of course the 2010 Insight.
Below are the complete results featuring their EPA gas mileage rating in city/highway and combined driving:
- 2000 Honda Insight (pictured above), 49/61, combined 53 mpg
- 2010 Toyota Prius, 51/48, combined 50
- 1986 Chevrolet Sprint ER, 44/53, combined 48
- 1990-1994 Geo Metro XFI, 43/52, combined 47
- 1986-1987 Honda Civic Coupe HF (that’s a CRX to the rest of us), 42/51, combined 46
- 1994-1995 Honda Civic HB VX, 39/50, combined 43
- 2006-2010 Honda Civic Hybrid, 40/45, combined 42
