Over the years, the successor to the beloved NSX supercar has been an on-again, off-again drama, due to the economy and many other factors. Although the NSX has been officially taken off the table, Honda did manage to produce the HSV-10 Super GT race car, which is said to have been largely based on the next-generation NSX.

Despite no official plans to move forward with the NSX, recent rumors are suggesting otherwise. According to AutoBild, Honda is indeed developing a version of the HSV-10 Super GT for the road.

If this supposed new model is indeed in the works, let’s hope it retains the HSV-10 Super GT’s powertrain. Power is supplied via a 3.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 500 horsepower and 289 lb-ft. of torque. while mated to a sequential gearbox with steering wheel paddle shifters. The HSV-10 Super GT benefits from a bevy of lightweight carbon fiber as well. All that would make for a fine halo sports car, according to Liberty Honda Hartford, CT.

While the possibility of a road-going version of the HSV-10 Super GT makes us salivate, don’t count on this vehicle just yet. Either way, Alexandria Acura and CT Acura Dealers are among the many retailers that miss the iconic sports car, and hopes that the NSX becomes a reality sooner, rather than later.
