Lately we’ve discussed the advantages and the drawbacks that the all-new Honda CR-Z possesses. While debate may continue on whether it could be called a legitimate sports car, or true successor for the CR-X, one thing is certain – Honda finally has a car capable of generating plenty of buzz.
Ahead of the CR-Z’s launch this summer, Honda Motor Europe just released an all-new promotional film produced by Gaucho Productions. Sure this film has what most promo films have – e.g. faceless driver, roads that don’t exist in reality, cheesy music, and even weird graphics. But aside from all that, the CR-Z certainly looks the part of a true hybrid sports coupe.
“The excitement is almost palpable,” said Gerald McCoy at Los Angeles Honda. “We’ve needed something sporty to go after the younger crowd for a decade now.”
“The unusual concept of a stylish, sporty hybrid offered us a great opportunity to push the boundaries,” said Alistair Weaver, managing director, Gaucho Productions. “Although this is a fantasy drive we wanted to make it look as real as possible, which meant creating our own laser light show on the Spanish coast. The Honda CR-Z is a fun, engaging car and we’re confident we’ve captured its unique spirit in a film that challenges and entertains.”
Not everyone is convinced that the CR-Z will provide the perfect balance of sportiness and efficiency that many drivers crave, but Chantilly car dealers predict that the car will be a hit when it arrives in showrooms. Puyallup Nissan agrees that the Honda CR-Z will mark a big change in the hybrid market, but questions whether it will truly appeal to those searching for MPG, or those seeking performance. Either way, we’ll be watching how this hybrid performs when it goes on sale.
